III. PVL-llike Changes

A. B.
Fig 6. 21 mos old with delayed motor development and hypotonia. A. Sagittal T1 weighted image shows marked thinning of the corpus callosum indicating white matter volume loss. B. Axial FLAIR sequence shows mild dilation of the lateral ventricles with abnormal increased signal in the periventricular white matter, most marked about the occipital horns. The pattern of disease resembles hypoxic-ischemic PVL, yet the patient was born full term with normal prenatal history, labor and delivery. No clinical evidence of hypertonicity is present, which would be a typical clinical finding of hypoxic-ischemic PVL.
