Multivoxel long TE MRS, and, E single voxel short TE PRESS reveals an abnormally low Cho:Cr ratio of 0.40 for age. Decrease in Cho:Cr ratio has been described in metabolic disorders. The etiology is unclear but may be a result of myelin rarefaction or damage. As will be illustrated in this exhibit, mitochondrial OXPHOS disorders commonly affect white matter.
