A. The skull base forms the superior margin of the Level V nodes.

B. This group of nodes extends inferior to the level of the clavicle (arrow).

C. Level VA nodes lie between the skull base and the level of the lower margin of the cricoid cartilage arch. Unlike Levels II and III, Level VA nodes are behind the posterior edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle (arrowheads) and anterior to the trapezius muscle (arrows).

D. Level VB nodes are located between the lower margin of the cricoid cartilage and the clavicle. Unlike Level IV nodes, they are behind an oblique line connecting the posterior edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the posterolateral edge of the anterior scalene muscle.
