Introduction

Perfusion imaging using rapid (echo planar) imaging sensitive to T2* effects obtained during bolus injection of gadolinium has become a commonly applied clinical tool. However, it is prone to many artifacts and relies on many assumptions. If the user is unaware of these potential pitfalls, errant diagnoses may result.

This poster describes the methods, assumptions, and artifacts seen in perfusion imaging, and describes some methods to correct for these.
